Kushinagar, the nirvana site of the Lord Buddha has been a well known
centre for the Buddhist Monks. Ashoka the great visited the site in
search of truth. The excavations have revealed that the site had many
monasteries for the bhikshus. Several stupas, monasteries & temples
were also discovered during the exhumation of the
area. The excavations made till date also give sufficient proof of it.
With the purpose of promoting Buddhism in the
area & providing familiar atmosphere & facilities to Buddhist
pilgrims visiting Kushinagar , The dream of making Kushinagar once again
surrounded by monasteries as it was in the past, several Buddhist countries have
built up their monasteries with temples and stay facilities. The
Asian Countries visited by Buddha have
expressed their deepest respect to the Revered Buddha by building the
Buddhist monastery at the nirvana place & to rehabilitate Buddhism and
strengthen the belief of the Buddhists. Constructing
the residence for Buddhist pilgrims and developing it as a center for
studying and propagating Buddhism and Buddhist culture in India. Also
introducing it as the center for Dhamma practice, mind development and
training Buddhist propagators in the Buddha's land.
